No. it is privately owned. Private banks issue 95% of our nation's currency by way of a fractional reserve system, literally out of thin air, and then proceed to charge us interest on all “money”. Hence our vast national 'debt', common now to most nations and people.
We are in effect owned by a secretive group of super rich banking elite. Wars and Terrorism are proven to have been repeatedly created by the bankers to greatly increase debt and destruction. This very small shadowy cabal of banking barons has become the ruling elite and is the single most persistent cause of suffering known on this planet. Without this enslavement and oppression there is no reason why every one of us cannot be free from poverty, disease and war.
